Pilke sustainable Lighting

Innermost Plus celebrates sustainability with new lighting range from Pilke

The Pilke Wooden Light Collection creates unique shadow-play, inspired by the Finnish forests. The brand’s team of makers build lights from high quality ecological material, following traditional crafts but with new interpretations of techniques and materials.

Innermost Plus co-founder Steve Jones said: “The collection is the combination of Finnish handcrafted techniques and ultra-modern computer geometry. The designers at Pilke use birch wood to create beautiful and intelligent Nordic Lightfulness. We’re really excited to be working with them and introducing their beautiful products to our customers in the UK.”

Quality design and sustainability matter to the brand’s local production team in Southern Finland. All raw wood materials are FSC®-certified and by using traditional Finnish shingle work, remastered by today’s computer technology, the collection is assembled without using any glue or screws.

Several pendants can be used together to create a show-stopping chandelier in a large space, or they can be used individually to create an intimate sanctuary within the home.

Innermost Plus will stock the full range of lighting from Pilke, which means twinkle in Finnish. Products will be stored at its distribution centre and factory in Telford, ensuring fast delivery and local support for clients.

Danish furniture brand launches its award-winning ReUsed Materials – R.U.M – chair in UK

A sustainable furniture brand from Copenhagen which creates dining chairs from waste materials, including fishing nets and discarded electronic devices, is now available to buy in the UK.

Wehlers, which has won awards for the use of alternative materials in the fight against plastic waste, has brought its founding product – the R.U.M Chair – to the UK via online retailer Innermost Plus

R.U.M stands for ReUsedMaterials with the dining chairs being made from various waste products including old computers, printers and old car equipment, which has been sorted, cleaned and granulated before being melted into the dark plastic to create the furniture.

They are the perfect addition to an office or study space and can be used for outdoor dining set-ups too.

The company operates on the principal of a ‘circular’ economy which means all the materials used in the production of R.U.M. can be 100 percent recycled for new Wehlers furniture.
Wehlers also meets the wide ranging environmental and social criteria to become an official B-Corp certified company. Currently it is one of 5,000 B-Corps globally.

Wehlers is now an official partner of Innermost Plus – a UK lighting and furniture specialist that works with brands all over Europe to offer a range of high-quality products to companies and individuals, including interior designers and architects.

Maria Fryd Wehler, founder, said: “We don’t think the world needs any more designer furniture. Instead, we are absolutely convinced that more opportunities are needed for sustainable consumption. The result is Wehlers – Furniture for good. We founded the company to be the positive change we would like to see in the world. Our place in history depends on the choices we make all the time.”

All the materials used are sustainable and are predominantly e-waste (electronic devices), marine plastics including fishing nets, beer kegs, recycled steel & FSC certified wood and recycled textiles.

The chair design was created by C.F. Møller Design, one of Scandinavia’s leading architectural firms with 90 years’ experience in the Nordic region and worldwide.

New colours for spring.

Innermost have released a large new colour range of high- quality pendant lights in the most anticipated interior colour trends for 2022.

Launching at this year, the company’s Hoxton and Chelsea lights will be available in Summer Sun, Dusky Blue, Forest, Papaya, Olive and Very-Peri.

Innermost co-founder Steve Jones said: “Ceiling lighting is now the focus of rooms rather than being merely functional and our new products will allow designers to really make an impact with ceiling lights across both residential and commercial projects.

The ‘Very-Peri’ purple Pantone shade is expected to soar in popularity this year with those opting for vibrant colours, along with our Summer Sun pendant in energising yellow.

Calming blue hues, including Dusky blue, are also set to be big in 2022 as they take over from the black and grey shades previously been an interior staple. Dulux has already announced that its ‘Bright Skies’ blue is its paint colour of 2022.

The aluminium spun Hoxton and Chelsea shades are two of the most popular Innermost ranges.

Available in a variety of sizes, they were previously only available in black or white colour options.

Innermost Plus welcomes UMAGE

Innermost Plus has announced UMAGE as the first new brand to be welcomed to its fold. UMAGE (pronounced ooh-may) is a Danish word meaning ‘making an effort’.

Beautiful Danish design meets affordability, high quality materials and a genuine care for the environment.

Innermost Plus co-founder Steve Jones commented: “The UMAGE brand combines aesthetics, simplicity and functionality with thoughtful craftmanship and environmental care. The result is exquisite designs with a sustainable edge. We’re really excited to be working with the team and introducing their beautiful products to our customers.”

Innermost Plus will stock the full range of UMAGE products from its modern distribution centre and factory in Telford, ensuring fast delivery and local support for clients.

Brett Day, head of retail, Europe/Oceania/Middle East for UMAGE, said: “We want to ensure we have the best representation and support for UMAGE in the UK and Innermost Plus is the perfect partner for us. We are excited to be taking this new path together.”

UMAGE acknowledges that selling furniture and lighting can never be 100% sustainable, but as a brand it wants to make an extra effort for the environment. Through a collaboration with the NGOs One Tree Planted scheme, every time a design made of wood is sold, a tree is planted.
